Crumbling ancient towns, oodles of exotic charm and goats grazing in trees : The beauty of travelling from London to Morocco by rail on The Marrakech Express

Marrakech…the name simply purrs exoticism, doesn’t it?

And yet it’s less than a four-hour flight from London and suddenly you’re there – standing in the ancient square of Jamaa el Fna – surrounded by snake-charmers, medicine-men, fortune-tellers, and men with wide-eyed monkeys on their backs. 

That was how I first came to discover Marrakech, anyway. This time though I was going a different way.
